  • The College Admissions Panel is comprised of the College Principal, Head of Education, Registered Care Manager and members of the multidisciplinary team
  • The College Admissions Panel sends out Pre-assessment questionnaires to the prospective student, parent/carer, current school, college or residential provision and social worker
  • The College Admissions Panel gathers information from previous placements: social services; health professionals etc.

What Happens Next

All information is reviewed by the College Admissions Panel who then decides whether to undertake an assessment at the prospective student’s current placement. If this is undertaken at the current placement then:-

  • The College Admissions Panels decides whether to invite the prospective student for a day or overnight assessment visit
  • A day or overnight assessment visit takes place
  • The College Admissions Panel sends a report to the referring Authority which outlines whether a place is to be offered
  • In the case of a residential placement, adult social services will hold a care meeting to confirm residential funding

If all funding is confirmed then the placement is formally offered in writing.
