Our Philosophy
Eagle Life College aims to develop the independence and skill set of each of our students through the creation of a secure, caring and consistent environment. At the College, we know that strength of relationships between students and staff promotes greater sociability with others, raises confidence and self esteem, and gives a real sense of belonging. We believe in our students having a purposeful, structured day and reaching the end of each day having achieved.
The Learning Centre
Students benefit from our new purpose designed, multifunctional Education Building which has been designed from the perspective of a young adult learner with an autistic spectrum disorder. The physical environment is safe, spacious and offers very clear visual structure with opportunities for work with a one-to-one support, small group and whole group settings. Within the Learning Centre there is also a fully equipped teaching kitchen and life skills areas.

Education, Learning and Vocational Training
At Eagle Life College all students follow purposeful, individualised, person-centred learning programmes which focus on functional outcomes through the use of Individual Learning Programmes (ILPs). Each ILP centres on the student's current strengths and interests whilst necessarily recognising their likes and dislikes.
The curriculum is based upon the Essential Skills Award scheme which incorporates basic skills, ICT and vocational skills including horticulture, art and design, music & dance and independent living skills. Additionally literacy and numeracy are woven through all activities. Students are supported with alternative and augmented communication methods including the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), objects of reference, photographs, symbols, text and pictures.
The Independent Living Skills curriculum includes personal hygiene and self care, making choices, following routines, housekeeping skills, cookery and food hygiene, safety in the home, visits out into the local community and personal finance.
The Vocational Curriculum provides opportunities for work simulation, sheltered work experience or work experience tasters matched to each individual student.
The Core Curriculum is comprised of:-

Leisure, Recreation and Social Development
Leisure, recreation and social development programmes help our students develop and maintain relationships with others and giving them the opportunity to broaden and persue their own specific leisure interests in a more purposeful way.
We offer a wide and exciting range of activities which includes horse riding, dance, music, art and craft, citizenship, community skills and health and beauty - some of which are more popular with the girls!
These curriculum activities are not only enjoyed to the full by our students but also go a long way to helping our students to become included within the wider community.
